We are thrilled that One Centenary Way has been shortlisted for the RIBA West Midlands Award 2025. Wintech provided Façade Consultancy and Façade Access Consultancy services.

Designed by Howells Architects, One Centenary Way stands as one of Birmingham’s most sustainable and architecturally distinctive workplaces.

The development has 3-metre-wide horizontal windows encased within an exposed structural steel façade. A Vierendeel Exoskeleton provides a stable solution to the absence of a normal load-bearing core. As the building is situated directly over the A38 Queensway Tunnel, the intelligent design incorporates transfer trusses so that the load of the façade and the building floorplates will be 23-storeys high covering 280,000 sq ft.

Wintech were appointed by Argent LLP to provide thermal calculation checks, value engineering, façade concept design, specification writing, design audit and site surveys  as part of the façade consultancy scope. We also provided on-site Stage 5 façade access consultancy services.

Lead Consultant, James Emery, stated: “Being shortlisted for a RIBA Award is a testament to the innovative design and engineering excellence of One Centenary Way. As a striking landmark at the gateway to Broad Street, it serves as a vital link between the city’s commercial centre and the city’s social hubs.”
