We are proud to have delivered multidisciplinary services for The Mastmaker Village regeneration scheme on the Isle of Dogs, London for our clients Fifth State.
The ambitious development, which will deliver nearly 1,000 new homes, has recently secured planning approval and will include co‑living accommodation, commercial space, a community hub, a pocket park and significant public realm enhancements.
Our Façade Engineering and Façade Access Consultancy teams were involved from the earliest stages, contributing to the design development of the two high‑rise buildings at RIBA Stage 2. By providing specialist insight at the outset, we supported key design decisions and helped address façade challenges associated with the project’s scale, geometry and materiality. This early engagement ensured the architectural vision was underpinned by a robust and coordinated technical strategy.

Our Façade Engineering scope includes:
• Attendance at design team meetings and façade workshops
• Thermal calculation checks (preliminary assessment on typical façade bay)
• Golden Thread reporting
• End of Stage 2 report
This project demonstrates our ability to support complex, design led schemes at an early stage, helping the architectural vision align with technical performance. The scale and ambition of Mastmaker Village, coupled with a strong focus on geometry and materiality, brought a range of façade engineering considerations to the forefront.

Our Façade Access scope includes:

• Preparation of strategy report
• Golden Thread reporting
The Façade Access Consultancy team developed the primary façade access strategy at RIBA Stage 2 involving telescopic Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) and facilitating the frequent inspections, cleaning, maintenance of the façades.
This early stage commission highlights the value of bringing specialist façade input into the design process at the point when key decisions can have the greatest impact on architectural expression, buildability and long-term performance.
