Wintech is delighted to be appointed on the Connect Centre refurbishment project in Portsmouth, providing a comprehensive multidisciplinary building design to support the Architects and Project Managers, including Civil, Structural, Building Services, Fire, Façade, and Façade Access Consultancy.

The project will deliver 191 apartments within an existing 11-storey 1970’s building, originally designed for commercial use. This strategic refurbishment transforms a challenging brownfield site into much-needed housing, supporting Portsmouth City Council’s ongoing shortfall in housing land supply in an efficient and sustainable manner.

The intervention poses a multifaceted challenge, including the addition of two new lightweight floors on the East Wing, as well as the conversion of car park areas on the lower two floors into residential units.

Jake Russell, Director at CPD commented, “The scheme highlights how innovative planning solutions and careful design can unlock complex sites. The existing façade, now failing in places, will be replaced with a bespoke cladding system that respects the building’s modernist heritage while significantly enhancing its appearance and townscape quality. This project shows how thoughtful design and innovative planning can repurpose redundant office buildings into much-needed homes, creating real impact in sustainable, well-connected urban locations.”
