One The Elephant is a development designed to transform a part of Elephant & Castle, comprising a leisure centre and a mixed-use residential tower. Designed by Squire & Partners for Lendlease, the building is clad in glass, stone and stainless-steel panels; complying with the architect’s brief of timelessness and long-life expectancy.
At 37 storeys, the tower pushes the boundaries for tall buildings in London. The façade of One The Elephant is constructed largely from unitised curtain walls. The envelopes of both areas of the development are designed to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions with air tightness and high insulation levels. Wintech have been involved on One The Elephant since its inception and delivered a valuable scope of façade consultancy services aimed at improving the life expectancy, environmental performance and durability of the finished façade while respecting budgetary constraints.
