Wintech welcomes the new law recently passed by the Scottish Parliament requiring nest boxes to be installed in all new buildings to help protect endangered cavity‑nesting birds.
We have already been involved in several projects where integrated nesting solutions have been successfully delivered, including The Mont student accommodation development in Edinburgh. As with any specialist façade component, it is essential that correct specification and detailing are addressed early in the design process. This helps avoid issues such as weather‑tightness, infestation, thermal bridging, and heat loss through the façade; factors that can easily be overlooked without early coordination.

This is great news for Scotland’s built environment sector and a positive step forward for biodiversity and better building design.
