How do you transform a Grade II-listed multi-storey car park from 1937 into a high-performing destination for education, hospitality and leisure, while preserving the character that makes it architecturally significant?

At Olympia’s Emberton House in West Kensington, specialist façade engineering played a key role in the transformation of one of Europe’s largest historic multi-storey car parks into a seven-storey mixed-use development.

We provided façade engineering consultancy throughout the project, helping to improve thermal and environmental performance while respecting the character of the retained historic façade.

Delivered by Laing O’Rourke, Emberton House forms an important part of the wider £1.3 billion transformation of Olympia into a leading cultural, entertainment and business destination.

The project demonstrates how heritage conservation and contemporary performance requirements can be successfully balanced to give historic structures a new lease of life.
