We are delighted to see The Earnshaw shortlisted for Project of the Year (New Build UK) at the SFE Façade 2024 Design and Engineering Awards.
Located on Oxford Street, London, The Earnshaw has been described as a masterclass in the delivery of complex design.
Wintech were appointed to provide façade consultancy services for RIBA Stages 4 to 6 with services including design audits, factory visits, witnessing prototype testing and site monitoring, collaborating with Apt Architects, UPB as specialist façade subcontractors and Skanska as Main Contractor.
Clyde Abela, façade engineer for the project, commented “One of the challenges for the façade on The Earnshaw was to provide a lightweight solution with significant movement accommodation whilst still delivering a monolithic aesthetic. Large format cladding was essential to maintain the proportions of the façade elements which was necessary to respect the scale of the surrounding streetscape on New Oxford Street. Development and testing of multiple bespoke façade systems and components was necessary, such as the long-span GFRC spandrels supported by multiple unitised curtain wall panels. Kudos to the contractors involved who handled the resulting logistical challenges and delivered Apt’s vision for the development.”
Best of luck to Apt and the whole team involved on this development.
