Building Services (MEP)

We engineer the systems that bring buildings to life.

From early-stage feasibility through to detailed design, construction support and operational performance, Wintech delivers integrated mechanical, electrical and public health engineering solutions that prioritise efficiency, sustainability and occupant wellbeing.

Drawing on our unique contracting heritage and multidisciplinary expertise, we combine practical construction knowledge with advanced modelling and digital design to develop coordinated, buildable solutions. By working closely with architects, developers and contractors, we help deliver high-performing buildings that achieve the right balance of cost, carbon, compliance and long-term value.

Mechanical & Electrical Design Services

We provide MEP design services for end user clients, main contractors and MEP Subcontractors. Our scope extends from feasibility through to the production of detailed coordinated working drawings and as-installed information.

Our team of highly experienced engineers and technicians supported by the latest hardware and software operate across the full range of MEP services and building sector types including education, healthcare, offices, industrial and large-scale residential.

Whilst we still work in 2D where clients require it we have fully embedded BIM into our processes and utilise it to enhance the design process both internally and within the wider design team. We have extensive experience of working in a BIM Level 2 environment and are fully conversant with all the major CDEs including 4 Projects, Aconex etc. and with COBIE schedule linking and embedding.

Sustainable & Low Energy Design

We have significant experience of low energy & low carbon design with multiple projects achieving BREEAM Excellent, Passivhaus and WELL Platinum.

To support your designs we can provide a wide range of Thermal Modelling and Sustainability advice utilising the IES Virtual Environment Building Simulation suite of software. All technical modelling and reporting is produced in house by our Chartered Engineers with CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor certification.

The IES Virtual Environment Building Simulation software enables highly detailed 3D models of a proposed building to be built and then subjected to a simulation of the environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, wind and sun) it may encounter throughout a year.

The results of thermal modelling can be utilised for:
• Part L Reports and EPCs
• Comfort Assessments
• Daylighting and Artificial Lighting
• MEP Solution Optimisation
• Energy/CO2 Conservation and Sustainability Advice

Draughting and Coordination

We combine our modelling/drawing expertise and real construction experience to enable the production of fully coordinated and spatially accurate 2D and 3D MEP services drawings and models.

Highlights of our capabilities are:
• BIM Level 2
• 3D Coordination including clash detection
• 2D Coordination

The advantages of the 3D approach include:-

Full 3D visualisation of the proposed MEP installation allowing demonstration of the design intent to non-technical stakeholders – this can include video “walk-throughs”

Clashes resolved as the model progresses avoiding the need for remedial works and possible delays to site processes

Real time coordination/clash detection can be undertaken to assess the impact of late changes to services and the building fabric

Accurate drawings incorporating the coordination can be prepared direct from the model – this can include sections, and elevations at any point as required to aid buildability

FAQs

Building Services Engineering is the design, and installation of systems that we interact with in a building making buildings comfortable, efficient, and functional. Building Services include heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), utilities supplies, drainage, electrical power, lighting, fire safety systems, and more.
Building Services Engineering includes all the systems that make a building work. These cover mechanical services like heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; electrical systems such as power, lighting, and security; public health services like water supply and drainage; plus, fire safety, renewable energy solutions, and smart building controls.
They design and specify mechanical, electrical and public health services. They collaborate with architects and structural engineers to ensure compliance with building standards and regulations.
As early as possible — ideally at concept design stage. Early involvement allows us to integrate the building services strategy into the core architecture, avoiding costly redesigns later. Crucially, it enables us to use our IES VE dynamic simulation software from day one to model energy performance, informing key decisions on building fabric, orientation, and system selection to maximise efficiency and achieve sustainability targets right from the outset.
Yes. Wintech building services engineers work in a 3D environment and to BIM standards to coordinate all services, reduce clashes, and improve project efficiency.
Mechanical and Electrical building services including heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical distribution, lighting controls and fire alarms.
Outline building layouts, details of use of the space, budget requirements, sustainability targets, and any existing building services documentation.
