Shelton is our Head of Structural Engineering and an Associate Director. He holds a PhD in Glass Engineering from Cambridge University, following his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering. Shelton joined Wintech in 2014 and now leads a team of Façade Structural Engineers, overseeing the execution, review, and delegation of structural calculations on several ongoing projects. These calculations encompass design criteria definition, wind load assessments, and the structural evaluation of various façade systems, including curtain walls, glazing, metal and stone cladding, as well as façade bracketry and fixing systems. Shelton and his team focus on ensuring that the façade systems they structurally design are optimised for material efficiency yet retaining the required structural integrity over full design life and are in full adherence to relevant codes of practice and project specifications.

In his role, Shelton regularly collaborates with façade consultants, designers, and clients, critically analysing façade designs, reviewing shop drawings for feasibility, and providing recommendations to enhance structural integrity.
