HNC

Associate Director of Geomatic Surveying

Andy started his career in surveying straight from school as an apprentice trainee, gaining an HNC in Surveying at North East London Polytechnic. With a surveying career spanning more than 40 years, he has accumulated extensive experience and competence in most surveying disciplines, including topographical surveys, measured building surveys, engineering surveys, and associated instrumentation, and software systems.  He now heads up the Wintech Geomatic Surveying team with responsibilities now more project management and logistics based, linking with clients and other Group disciplines.

Andy has good CAD skills and particularly adept with 3D ground modelling software to manipulate digital surface data for cut and fill calculations, contouring, and design. He has also been instrumental in developing in-house survey processing software and routines to enable bespoke project solutions where needed.  With other responsibilities in IT, Andy is particularly keen for the team to be at the forefront of the latest surveying technologies, such as 3D laser scanning and GNSS, to ensure efficiencies to our clients.

His experience covers a wide range of projects over the years from surveying the inside of a catalytic cracker at Stanlow Oil Refinery, to historic sites such as maritime Priddy’s Hard in Gosport, and a stunning brick built underground reservoir in Gondar Gardens, London which connected to Buckingham Palace. Country estates at Luton Hoo, the Northern Line Tube tunnel and other rail tunnels in London, The Casino Hotel, Le Touquet, France, and a raft of commercial and residential sites throughout the UK.
